The Future of Urushi Ware
For its 12th exhibition, the Ishikawa International Urushi Exhibition 2020 received 215 entries from 11 nations and regions.
At the Preliminary Assessment of images held in April 2020, 80 works submitted from 8 nations and regions were selected. For the exhibition, 78 works were sent to the Executive Office. The Final Assessment was held on June 25th 2020, and 16 prize winners were selected. The following day on June 26th 2020, a Special Symposium was held, The Executive Committee reported the results of the Final Assessment and the members of the Final Assessment Panel gave their comments on the prize winners. In addition, the panelists discussed their thoughts on the future of Urushi art. We would like to present that discussion.
