Panel Discussion

A new expanse of lacquer
The 14th edition of the Ishikawa International Urushi Exhibition received 215 entries from ten nations and regions.
During the Preliminary Assessment in April, which was conducted via photographic images, 65 works from nine nations and regions were selected from the original 215. For these works, a Final Assessment in the presence of the physical objects was held on Thursday, 16th July, and the 14 award-winning pieces were determined.
Furthermore, at the result announcement and review session held the following day, Friday, 17th July, the jury members provided reports on the results and critiques of the winning works.
This report presents an overview of that discussion.
